Irish Oaks Ranch is nestled in a fertile valley, amongst the rolling hills of the California’s Central Coast Approximately 10 miles off the coast of the great Pacific Ocean, the air is filled with moisture and the temperatures stay mild, which provides the perfect recipe to grow great things.

The Beginning
Young love connected two souls back in the 1990's. Although they were raised worlds apart, their interest couldn't have been more aligned.
Melissa, who was the daughter of an Air Force Captain, had lived in many different countries throughout her life. When it came to choosing a college, she choose to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a major of Animal Science, Pre Veterinarian studies.
Matt was born with agriculture in his blood. He came from a long time farming family and he was born on the family farm in Ivanhoe, CA. Even when Matt's family moved to the coast, he still was drawn to agriculture. During high school, Matt was involved with Future Farmers of America, where he served as the Paso Robles Chapter President, SLO County Vice President, as well as raising cattle and hogs.
Life Happened
A corporate career called Melissa to the Los Angeles area, where she worked as a successful R&D Scientist. Matt followed her was hired as a Firefighter for a Southern California Fire Department. Even though they lived in the big city, they always kept a large backyard garden to grow their food.
In 2005, after the birth of their first son, Melissa resigned her corporate job to be a full time mom. The family moved to the suburbs and their backyard garden grew to a backyard farm. The Garrett Family raised a plentiful bounty of fruits and vegetables in which they shared with friends and family. To the surprise of their neighbors, Matt and Melissa kept a small flock of egg layers, one of the first to do so in their town.
As the family grew, so did the desire to grow something bigger. In 2012, the Garrett's sold almost everything they owned so they could buy the small homestead ranch on the Central Coast. Through hard work, and plenty of failures, the small family farm has grown into a flourishing small business.
The Garrett’s have three children which are all active in running the farm. At age 10, Aiden started his own business making goat milk soap from his herd of Alpine dairy goats. Not wanting to be left out, Aidens’s younger sister, Emma, started her own business at age 11 which is called “Farmgirl’s Lotions & Potions”. Both of the kids produce some of the finest handcrafted products found anywhere. In addition to being offered on our website, their products can be found in shops throughout California, as well as in Australia, England, and Iceland.
